Laverton, Victoria

Six minutes and 28 seconds left in the first quarter of the reserves game.

Scoreboard Pressure popped into the Laverton ground late this morning and caught the start of the reserves match against Wyndham Suns. The home team went on to win by more than 100 points. The seniors did not fare so well but it’s early days in the 2019 season of Division 3 of the Western Region Football League.

The Magpies first laced up their boots 95 years ago, in 1924. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the club’s senior premiership, when they defeated Wyndhamvale 2.16 (28) to 4.3 (27).  Talk about a tense Grand Final! More club history.

Still standing: the eastern wing scoreboard.

Found this abandoned, lying on its side. Paid my respects by standing it up.

Spot the balls.
