Third Test, with the series at 1-1. Final day’s play. Lillee is bowling to Grieg. D’Olivera at the bowler’s end.

England had turned its back on a target of 451 runs over 9 and a half hours. Greig and D’Olivera batted England to the safety of 4/290 at stumps.

England won the fourth Test, Australia the fifth.

England retained The Ashes, having won the previous series, the tempestuous and rainy seven Test Australian tour of 1970-71, 2-0.

Trent Bridge, home of Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club, is the third oldest Test venue in the world. More details on the interweb.

You’ll find some nice pics, including this beauty of lacrosse and, in the distance, a small white and black scoreboard.
