On 31 May 2023 we were in the early stages of The Ghan’s journey from Adelaide to Darwin when I spotted, from my seat in the dining car, the back of a scoreboard at a country footy ground.

I vowed to one day get a photo of that scoreboard. The return came earlier than expected, in October 2023.

Red Hill is one of the homes of the Brinkworth Spalding Red Hill Football Club, better known (on scoreboards at least) as BSR – the Tigers.

BSR were North Eastern Football League premiers 2020, 21, 22, 23. The Tigers are powerful.

During this SA visit I went to Spalding, scoreboard coming soon to these pages, and was on the brink of visiting Brinkworth three times but didn’t make it. The footy ground is, I hear, impressive.
