It was good to find some numbers on the scoreboard on my recent visit to Bencubbin. Last time, 2020, it was blank.

Bencubbin was a founding member of the Central Wheatbelt Football League in 1968 and remains in the five-team competition.

Bencubbin Football Club was formed in 1920 and played, and won, its first game at the Mandiga* Sportsground. It was part of the Gabbin Football Association that later became the Dampier Football Association.

* I’d love to know where the Mandiga oval was – a couple of searches have proved unsuccessful.
