White Flat Oval, Ballarat, Victoria.

A narrow loss and a comfortable victory were the results of the Williamstown FIDA  Round 6 away games on 29 June against the Ballarat Bulldogs at White Flat  Oval (As opposed to Flat White Oval).

The reserves match was neck and neck with never more than a few points between the teams. The Seagulls’ steadfast back-line held firm in the drizzly, slightly slippery conditions and was only breached a few times in the first three quarters. The Bulldogs managed their third goal of the game halfway through the final quarter and then held on to win by five points, 3.4 (22) to 2.5 (17).

The winter sun shone brightly for the senior game and the Seagulls scored constantly, though inaccurately in the first and second quarters. Indeed, the 40-point mercy rule was in effect from early in the second quarter, meaning the Seagulls could move players into different positions and rotate the bench (so to speak). 13.16 (94) to 4.5 (29).
