Tocumwal, New South Wales

Like other grounds in the Riverina region, the old scoreboard is hanging in there, even though there is an electronic scoreboard. And like the old Cobram scoreboard, Tocumwal has a wire basket/net to catch numbers destined to catch the wind. Maybe it was Jim Cullen’s idea?

Note the footballs near the goalposts. There was a young chap in a Bloods training top taking shots on a Tuesday arvo.

“Bit early for pre-season?” .

“Keeping fit,” he said. “Haven’t played for about a month. Played for Yarrawonga this year. They missed the finals.”

Yarrawonga (The Pigeons) play in the Oven & Murray league, the Bloods in the Picola league.
