A glance at the gallery page on the Bonnie Doon website shows that the Bombers were once the Bulldogs.

‘The Bonnie Doon Bulldogs’ is quite alliterative but we’re guessing the change wasn’t fuelled by a committee member who had no interest in playful English phrasing.
