For the past couple of seasons WAFL club Claremont have used the Showgrounds as their home ground while a major Waverley-style redevelopment takes place at Claremont Oval.
The Showgrounds was, in fact, the home of the Tigers when they came into the WAFL in 1926 as Claremont-Cottesloe and its football history goes back further – the 1907 grand final, won after a protest by Perth over East Fremantle, was played at the Showgrounds.
In the late 1960s night games were played at the Showgrounds as part of a post-season competition.
Those with a keen eye for scoreboards – and that’s all of you – will recognise the board used at the Showgrounds this season. It is uniquely placed within a dressage and jumps practice enclosure.

Claremont will move back across the road to their new-look home in 2017.
