Millington Reserve is the home of the Scarborough Amateur Football Club, it’s one of the best looking footy grounds in the Perth metro area. I was there for a WAAFL colts game and on a perfect Saturday afternoon it was a tranquil scene.
There were kids playing, people walking dogs, spectators sitting comfortably on the banks surrounded by magnificent eucalypts. The Scarborough boys, who seemed to be undermanned, were battling on but falling steadily behind. I was just reflecting on how good natured the game was when a brawl broke out and two players were sent off. Then it settled down.
The Jim McGann scoreboard honours one of the club’s founders and the inaugural coach. It can be operated one-handed.
