Merrigum Football Netball Club was formed in 1909 and is one of only three original Kyabram District Football League clubs still affiliated with the league (Lancaster & Girgarre being the other two). They have played every season in the KDFL since 1932.
They wear the Western Bulldogs jumpers with the dog on the front with red shorts, and have won senior premierships in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1953, 1957, 1986, 1987, 1990 & 2015.
Merrigum tend to go through periods of boom (the late 40’s & 50’s, and mid 80’s to early 90’s) to bust where they’ve been down the ladder (the early 2000’s were hard years for the club).
Like a lot of the KDFL clubs, they tend to struggle with attracting juniors, due to the older demographics of the town, but they’ve always fielded a full allotment of teams and have been a good, solid member of the KDFL.
Go the Bulldogs!
