Donvale, Victoria (FIDA Grand Final)

Sunday 28 August, 2022. Williamstown claim the premiership once again.

After getting away to a good start, Williamstown led by almost five goals early, before Kananook drew back to within a point.

The Seagulls steadied and kicked the last goals of the match to run out victors by 20 points.

The Blue and Gold have now won four FIDA Division 1 flags: 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2022, with a minor premiership in 2021 (in a season cut short by Covid).

They haven’t lost many games at all, in those ‘even’ years. But can they go back-to-back, win a flag in an ‘odd’ year?

The Williamtown Reserves won the flag in 2016 and after some quiet years are hoping to move up the ladder come 2023.

FIDA (Football Integration Development Association) is a league for players with intellectual disabilities. It was formed more than 30 years ago.
