The Indian Ocean Drive is one of the best journeys to take by car or bus in WA. It’s no Great Ocean Road but with brilliant ocean glimpses and an area of grass trees that has to be seen to be believed this drive is filled with highlights. The road was completed in 2010 and has made access to some of the towns in this area much simpler.
One of the towns is Leeman, it’s about 300km north of Perth and only about 50 years old. You could probably call it a fishing village. It’s attractive, relaxed and beaches are magnificent.
There’s a nice footy ground with a colourful scoreboard but no senior footy team. The Leeman Marlins joined the Central Midlands Football League in 1992 but folded in 2008 after a number of seasons struggling to find enough players.
If you know something about footy in Leeman we’d love to hear from you.

Meanwhile we can tell you that Mandy McElhinney, who looked gorgeous as Gina in Nine’s House of Hancock, grew up in Leeman. Not sure if she was much of a footballer but.
