Today’s edition of the most popular website in the world* is brought to you by the Footy Maths Institute, The Holy Boot Football Emporium, and Seb from Sunshine. Through the world-wide resources of Instagram, Twitter, email and a chat at the school-crossing, we are able to feature the temporary scoreboard used at the VU Whitten Oval for the pre-season game between the Western Bulldogs and Richmond, on Saturday 28 February 2015. Plus a bonus pic from 1978.

Word has it that there will be a new permanent scoreboard at Whitten Oval that will be able to screen movies: Moonlight Cinema in the summer. BYO deck chairs and park yourself at centre-half-forward.

But the scoreboard that stays in the memories of Doggies fan is, of course, this one from 1978 (sent in by Seb from Sunshine):

  1. What is interesting about the 1978 team photo is the range of variations in the jersey. The assistant coach has been given a jersey with no chest logos, while a couple of other players have a logo (VFL) on their right side, but nothing on the left. Doug McKenzie is wearing a very unusual jumper – what are the red stripes near his shoulders?
