Sankey Reserve is the attractive home of the Gisborne Rookies Junior Football Club and the Gisborne Masters. It’s not the main footy ground in Gisborne but has a better looking scoreboard than nearby Gardiner Reserve.
It has very small point posts.
The ground was named in honour of legendary Gisborne rover Tom Sankey.
When we visited a group of picnickers had erected a tent near the goals at the non-scoreboard end – it’s that kind of place.
