What will become of the 1956 scoreboard at the Junction Oval in St Kilda? The ground, also known as CitiPower Centre, is now the home of Cricket Victoria. The redevelopment included a new scoreboard, of course. It’s on the eastern side of the ground, clearly visible from the Blackie-Ironmonger Stand.
The old scoreboard that was behind the goals at the city end? It’s still standing but is now obscured by the redevelopment. One should not be surprised. At least Scoreboard Pressure was lucky enough to explore the innards of the 1956 scoreboard back in 2011.
Scoreboard Pressure visited during the Victoria’s big win over Western Australia in the semi-final of the JLT Cup. (Justin Langer Tupperware Cup? ). It’s a pretty place to watch cricket. Prettier than the cavernous concrete MCG.
During Victoria’s innings Short bowled to Short, but did not bowl Short. Or short. It was a short-lived moment of serendipity.
