Cross Park Oval, set among trees in the Perth hills, is the home of the Roleystone Football Club. The junior Tigers had their first season in 1973 after a considerable community effort to get the game going in the district.
RJFC is still going strong and the senior team made the E1 grand final in the WAAFL in 2018. Prominent former Roleystone players include Marcus Seecamp, who played for Fitzroy (51 games) and Melbourne (89) after starting his league career with East Perth, and Dockers Daniel Gilmore (43 games) and Josh Head (nine games) – both were premiership players for South Fremantle.
The scoreboard is big, strong and manual – just the way we like them.
Cross Park will be the centre of attention on Sunday 20 January when home team Roleystone-Karagullen meets WACA first grade team Gosnells in the annual Kevin Loaring Cup T20 game. Brad Hogg will line up for R-KCC.
