Japan, 1909

Cricket scoreboard or psalm numbers for church on Sunday?

… H.R. Nicoll took 10 for 29 for Kobe against Yokohama in October 1909, and thus became known as the ‘demon bowler in Japan’.

Image and info sourced from Pageant of Cricket by David Frith. (MacMillan, Australia, 1987)

Nice to see the numbers at Nicoll’s feet too.
