The  photo above accompanied an article by The Age’s Peter Hanlon called The pride of the new Fitzroy. The original caption for the photo read:  ‘Following a merger between the Fitzroy Reds and the Fitzroy Football Club Ltd, the field of dreams will again become a reality for stalwarts.’

The photo below was sent to Scoreboard Pressure a few years ago by Paul Daffey and was part of his 2001 book Local Rites, a year in grassroots football in Victoria and beyond. The original photo caption read ‘Fitzroy Reds and University Blacks salute the spirit of former Fitzroy ruckman Butch Gale at the Brunswick Street oval.’
