The scoreboard at Errington Reserve is not the most visible of scoreboards but at least it’s still there, still providing a public service, a focal point, a gathering spot.
I’d goal-umpired an early season game between the St Albans and Williamstown FIDA teams and then pottered about during the second match. (The visiting Seagulls won both games; the seniors easily and the reserves in a close contest.)
This small suburban ground is near the local train line and shops. St Albans is an outer western suburb of Melbourne, yet to be gentrified.
And while the scoreboard/carpark end of the ground has probably seen better days the main entrance on the main road boasts a pretty playground.
